Incense burning is the practice of igniting aromatic materials—including resins, woods, herbs, and flowers—to release fragrant smoke into the air. This ancient practice, used across cultures for thousands of years, serves multiple purposes: spiritual rituals, meditation, aromatherapy, or simply to create a pleasant ambiance in your space.

When incense burns, it releases aromatic compounds that interact with your olfactory system and can influence mood, stress levels, and concentration. Burning incense creates a complete sensory experience that addresses both mind and body wellness.

Incense sealing is an ancient form of incense burning by burning incense powder motifs on a carefully prepared ash bed in specially designed burners.

As the seal burns, fragrance is released and the beautiful ash motif remains. The process itself — from preparing the ash to carefully lifting the mould — becomes part of a mindful ritual. This traditional technique, originating in Asian cultures and practised in tea ceremonies and for personal leisure.

Bloom aromatherapy is Peoni & Stone's signature method of dry aromatherapy — a gentle, smoke-free approach to experiencing therapeutic fragrance and scent. Rather than traditional burning or combustion methods, Bloom Aromatherapy use vaporisation techniques to release the aromatic compounds from carefully curated blends of scented woods, florals, and herbs.

Bloom Aromatherapy produces no smoke or ash as it vaporises without a direct flame. it offers a clean, elegant alternative to traditional incense burning — perfect for those who prefer fine scent without the heaviness of smoke. The result is a beautiful, immersive sensory experience that engages all your senses whilst maintaining the purity and clarity of the fragrance.

All our powders, florals, herbs and woods are 100% natural, with florals and herbs being food-grade quality. We do not substitute with synthetic fragrances or add fillers to any of our products. You can be assured all powders and blends are of the highest quality.

Whilst all our products are natural and many are of food grade quality, our products are not made for human consumption or inhalation.

Sandalwood and agarwood are non-edible and must never be consumed, nor should powders be inhaled, unless they have been lit and used as incense as designed.

The white powder base used in incense sealing practices is required for heat insulation, promote oxygen flow, sculpable (to be pressed flat) and odourless.

Our white powder base is a proprietry blend of non-toxic natural ingredients. It makes the perfect canvas for your incense sealing rituals.

Whilst it is natural, it is not designed, nor recommended for ingestion nor inhalation.

Pets have extremely sensitive lungs and should avoid smoke inhalation. Certain fragrances whilst perfectly safe to use, can be toxic for pets.

Pets also react differently even to safe fragrances.

We plan to introduce a more gentle and sensitive range safe for most pets in the future. For the time being, we urge caution for use around pets.

Our bloom range is a more gentler way to enjoy our rituals if you have pets, ensure plenty of ventilation and they are able to leave the space freely and at will.

Whilst we have designed blends for their fragrance and their spiritual meaning aligned with an intention, this is purely a guideline and blends are best used based on your own personal preference.

Use scents that you like and that bring joy and happiness to you. Scent evoke different reactions and feelings to different people, and it is a very personal choice.

All burners, tools and accessories are sourced from China - production of these implements do not originate from other countries. The tools and accessories are native to Chinese culture, and they are the artisan makers of these products.

Sandalwood is sourced from certified, reliable suppliers in Australia from wild sandalwood.

Agarwood is sourced from certified, reliable suppliers in Australia from CITES certified plantations

Powders, florals and herbs are sourced from reliable suppliers in China, from products originating from around the world. For example, Ceylon Cinnamon, no matter where they are sourced, originate exclusively from Sri Lanka.

Peoni & Stone is proudly Australian. We hand-blend in small batches using both local and imported ingredients in our Sydney studio. All orders are lovingly packed and shipped from Sydney.
